Preparing Professionals to Serve Victims Across Colorado
In partnership with Ami McCarthy, Victim Outreach Incorporated presents the Colorado Victim Services Academy — a comprehensive training platform designed to equip professionals across all sectors with the skills, knowledge, and connections needed to support victims of crime effectively.
The Academy serves professionals in law enforcement, prosecutors’ offices, probation and corrections, and community/nonprofit organizations. Participants gain practical tools grounded in trauma-informed care, cultural responsiveness, and best practices, while building professional networks and enhancing their ability to meet the evolving needs of victims.
Training Programs
BASIC Victim Services Academy – 40 hours
- Designed for professionals new to the field or seeking a refresher (≤ 2 years of experience).
- Hands-on training covering foundational skills, the full spectrum of victim services, and practical strategies.
- Opportunities to collaborate with peers across agencies and community organizations.
Upcoming Basic Academy: January 12–16, 2026
ADVANCED Victim Services Academy
- Designed for professionals with 2+ years of experience, including supervisors, managers, and frontline staff.
- Focuses on advanced skill-building, complex case management, and professional networking.
- Open to all professionals across system-based roles and community/nonprofit organizations.
