JEFFERSON COUNTY COURTS
AND ADMINISTRATION BUILDING
The 24th Annual Courage Walk will begin at the
Jeerson County Courts and Administraon
Building (rain or shine!) and will conclude with a
short ceremony at the Courage Garden. The half
mile walk is wheelchair accessible.
The Courage Garden is dedicated to crime
vicms. Designated for commemorave
planngs, it is also a place of respite for those
involved in court cases. Proceeds from this
event will be used for maintenance of the
garden, training vicm advocate volunteers,
and to help vicms of crime or other traumac
events in our community.
A special thank you to the JeffCo Facilities
Crew and to JeffCo Extension Service
Master Gardeners for their hard work and
dedication to the Maintenance of the
Courage Garden.

Naonal Crime Vicms’ Rights Week is
being observed April 2-8, 2017. This year’s
theme— Strength, Resilience, Jusce,
reects this vision of the future. We
envision the day when all vicms are
strengthened by the response they receive,
organizaons are resilient in response to
challenges, and communies are able to
seek collecve jusce and healing. This
event celebrates three decades of
extraordinary progress made on behalf of
millions of vicms since the passage of the
Vicms of Crime Act (VOCA). This
commemorave week has been set aside
since 1981 to honor crime vicms and the
rst responders, advocates, counselors, and
others who assist them in their me of
need, as well as the law enforcement
personnel who work to bring oenders to
jusce.
Well behaved, leash trained dogs are
welcome. Please respect the need for
safety and help us avoid any issues
that could cause disruption or
discomfort for guests or other pets

The 24th Annual Courage Walk-
A me to honor the strength and courage of
survivors in the aermath of crime - and a me
to speak out in unison for crime vicms’ rights
and services today and in the future.
Eleanor Roosevelt spoke directly to these
unsung heroes when she said, “You gain
strength, courage and condence by every
experience in which you really stop to look fear
in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I
have lived through this horror. I can take the
next thing that comes along.’ You must do the
thing you think you cannot do.” The courage of
survivors who “do the thing they think they
cannot do” and then nd a way to live life again,
inspires this event.
